Deputy Sheriff Brian Mahaffey

Deputy Sheriff Brian Lamar Mahaffey

1982 – 2010

"Rockdale County has lost a dedicated Deputy, public servant, role model and family man."

- Rockdale County Board of Commissioners Chairman Richard Oden

Deputy Mahaffey was part of the RCSO Narcotics and Vice Unit and went to serve warrants at a home on Sand Hill Road in Conyers. The suspect, wanted for rape, kidnapping and aggravated assault, hid in the bedroom closet and opened fire when Mahaffey and other deputies entered the residence, according to a press release.
Mahaffey was fatally wounded from a shot in the arm and another shot under his protective vest.

Mahaffey had just celebrated his 28th birthday and is survived by his wife and two young children.  Through your membership and donations, the 300 Club of Atlanta was able to offer assistance to the family.
